I grew up watching Don Knotts. It's a sad day.

LOS ANGELES Feb 25, 2006 (AP)— Don Knotts, the skinny, lovable nerd who kept generations of television audiences laughing as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show," has died. He was 81.

Knotts died Friday night of pulmonary and respiratory complications at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, said Paul Ward, a spokesman for the cable network TV Land, which airs "The Andy Griffith Show," and another Knotts hit, "Three's Company."

Unspecified health problems had forced him to cancel an appearance in his native Morgantown in August 2005.

I loved him in Mr. Limpett. Sad day yes, but we just got another new angel.

I can remember in my younger years sitting with my parents watching him. And I will miss him. Funny, I wish TV today was more like it was back then. I was talking to a friend of mine this past week about turning my kids onto some of the shows from the past generation and I think its a good idea. Although she likes the Teletubbies and I'm still not sure about them! Still can't understand a word they say.

Oh yes, we really need to turn our kids onto these great old shows! How better to have a shared experience!

And Debby, surely you aren't tuning into the teletubbies in search of complex dialogue?? They're all about "cute" from what I can gather. Don't you wove the wittle bunnies??

Farewell, Don Knotts, and thanks for all the good laughs and happy moments!

I had to laugh, I told my husband Mr Limpett died, he asked who the heck is that?, I said Don Knotts, he said " you know babe, anyone else would have said Barney from Mayberry died and everyone would have known it was Don Knotts, but not my girl". LOL. I said "shucks hon, you know how I strive to be different".

Don Knotts also played in a movie with Doris Day and Rock Hudson that was a riot, I just can't remember the name of it.
