People are becoming more and more afraid of using the web.

• 30 percent say they have reduced their overall use of the Internet.
• A majority of Internet users (53 percent) say they have stopped giving out personal information on the Internet.
• 25 percent say they have stopped buying things online.
• 54 percent of those who shop online report they have become more likely to read a site’s privacy policy or user agreement before buying.
• 29 percent of those who shop online say they have cut back on how often they buy on the Internet.

In the early years I used to shop with Fingerhut on line, then I moved to QVC and Newport News. Today, I never shop on line.Identity Theft has brought me back to my local merchants.

I do most of my shopping online.

I don't have many complaints. This past Christmas I was able to find great gifts for everyone within my budget, and have most of them wrapped and shipped so I never had to touch them.

I tend to stick to the major sites like Amazon or Overstock where I feel confident. I have pretty much given up on e-bay after being a big fan for many years. There's not much that I can find there that isn't cheaper and safer from another site.

As far as identity theft goes, there's more risk of someone getting your info right out of your mailbox or from a face to face credit card transaction or especially a personal check. I never write checks if I can help it.

I guess we all pick our poison. I feel great that I haven't been in or near a mall in years though!

I do know some people that have a seperate credit/debit card just for ordering on the internet. I use Paypal most of the time now.

I love shopping on the net. It saves me so much time and I can sit at home and relax to do it.

A separate card for the net is the way to go! Paypal is cool too, I use that a lot myself! Speaking of which, I keep forgetting that I'm overdue for a visit there, I have some debts to pay!!

I actually haven't really been shying away from the internet. It's strange because the stats you said are contradicted by the fact hat the internet has probably grown very popular from the time we were born. Also many of the stats are reasonable as people should stop giving out personal information, and read privac policies and user agreements. Eh well.
