MARTINEZ, Calif. — It has been more than three years since murder defendant Susan Polk has spoken to her son, Gabriel Polk.
"I'm kind of shocked that he's not remembering what I remember," Polk bemoaned Monday to the judge in her first-degree murder trial.

What is this woman thinking being her own lawyer?

This woman has so many unresolved issues and it seems that she is trying to get them answered and not asking the questions needed. She is doing herself in with the jury by the sounds of it. Also, it's not bad enough her children went through the actual crime but who knows what this is going to do to them. As far as her son Eli it sounds as though trouble is at his doorstep already. Is the mother to blame for all of this? Did the upbringing with a mother who was threatening to kill their father spark some of this? WDYT?

Thats a tough question, certainly what he has seen growing up didn't help the person that he is today. But I firmly believe that when you see, and live that kind of abuse it is up to you as a person to not carry on the trend. Very good question Debby, I will have to read more on Eli and give this more thought. It will be a shame if he allows his mothers sins to control his life.

Well it sounds as though all the boys have anger issues. Eli for the domestic and I forget what Gabriel had been in trouble for. Another thing is the fact the mother who supposedly loves all the boys so much had no trouble whatsoever bringing up Gabriels troubles with the law while she had him on the stand but she was trying to get a restraining order against Elis girlfriend. There is no way anyone is going to convince me she isn't playing favorites with her children. Be it if you are 5, 15 or 25 it will still have an effect on you.
I am 100 percent with you Lightheart on not carrying out the trend. I am sick of hearing how the cycle repeats itself. People need to realize it can be broken. And it's unfortunate that some are not able to get the help to be able to learn how to break this trend. I don't even want to get going on that book. There is so much evidence that this can be done it's overwhelming.
