Hi All,
Please keep your eye on the various categories and threads as we add RSS feeds to keep us updated with breaking news.
If you know a great feed that you'd like us to post here, please make your request and we'll be glad to check it out and most likely add it.
Also, this is a very new capability, so if anyone has suggestions about how to best use it, please don't hesitate to speak up!
For those who don't know, RSS feeds are like the old news tickers, but updated for the net. How it works is that we subscribe to a site's feed, and we get the news as it comes in.
Right now we're using Fox, and CNN as our breaking news features.

And I'm searching around for good feeds to use for specific topics, like the Ramsey and Duke University cases, etc.
We'll also put in feeds from good recipe sites, tech news, whatever seems to make sense.
I think it's cool!!! :bubbly: WDYT??

I am not sure, You know I love ya, and I just hope you don't lose this "homey" feeling that you gave to the place.
The only flaw I see is the repeating of headlines.

Yes, and I love you back too!! http://www.livewire.fm/Nico/photos/00000010_photo.gif
We'll definitely have to work on the duplications, I'm just figuring this out, so we'll be tweaking it. Definitely let us know if you find it to be a distraction!
We aim to please!! Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks Nico for not taking offense. I have always told you this is your house and you run it as you see fit, and you have always told me if I have something to say, say it. So I did.:disbelief
And you know anything you do is always fine with me anyways, I adapt easily.

Of course I wouldn't take offense!!
Is there something besides the duplications that bothers you?
The options we have are: which feeds to use, how often they update, and to filter them by requesting only limited information. I've done that in the JonBenet threads using the Denver Post feed, eg.
In the Headline News thread, I'm using the CNN and Fox Headline News updates every 10 minutes. I'm seeing that it's too frequent, so I'll change that to once an hour.
Otherwise, do you have any other observations or requests, other than to can it altogether?
Maybe I should leave it out of the specific threads and just leave it in the Headline News area?
WDYT?

Thanks so much for the kudos, LightHeart. Our greatest success is that we've attracted you and our other awesome posters here!
And don't forget, this is all in preparation for the eventual launch of the radio broadcasts. It's taking longer than we expected, partially because the concept keeps changing! Today I was thinking about how much fun it will be when not only are we posting, philosophising, organizing, an joking around on the message board, but on the radio as well! Think of how much more of the contents of our minds we can let loose with if we don't have to type it all out!! All this because we finally hooked up the call-in technology. Not that it actually works yet, but we did hear some noise come through the phone lines, so hope springs eternal!! :D
I'm glad to know that our project is succeeding so far, and it most certainly is if you're finding it enjoyable and meaningful, LH! Now could we clone you a few hundred thousand times?? :D
