I'm sure that every little bit helps. Buying one "toiletry" or instant food item at the corner store, packaging and mailing it to an appropriate address will help.
However the toiletry or whatever is probably packaged in several layers of plastic and cardboard. Much of the purchase price pays for that and the distribution.
The wonderful enthusiasm shown on this site makes me want to suggest another way to help. Organize a "lobby" to telephone and maybe knock on the doors of producers and wholesalers. And truckers or airlines. Make it easy for them. Suggest a large quantity of a most-needed donation, preferably without all the extra packaging. Suggest a transporter. Suggest a press release to glorify the donations.
Does a company near you produce or wholesale needed items such as toilet paper, facial tissues and paper towels, sanitary napkins, underwear, shampoo, toothpaste or toothbrushes, protein bars, diapers, crayons or drawing paper for little kids, writing paper, envelopes or ballpoints for adults etc. etc.?
Couldn't a few people working along these lines help thousands?
