America's Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network and our Member food banks and food-rescue organizations are at the forefront in helping individuals and families impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Thanks to our partners - and especially to faithful supporters like you - we have already been able to dispatch 1,025 truckloads carrying 33.1 million pounds of food and grocery products to help the more than 1 million people displaced by the storm. That works out to about 25.9 million meals for hurricane evacuees. And those numbers rise daily!
On Saturday, September 24, America's Second Harvest established the Hurricane Relief Fund to further meet the ongoing need for disaster relief. Click here to donate to this fund -- 100% of these donations go to rescue and recovery efforts for Katrina, Rita, and any future hurricanes through June 30, 2006.
America's Second Harvest helps get food into the hands of hungry people in nearly every county of the United States 365 days a year. That is why we are able to respond in times of disaster by providing immediate food assistance to evacuees. As millions of Americans don't know where they will find their next meal, the America's Second Harvest Network will continue to help people in need in the weeks and months ahead.
