My name is Kathy. I am writing a request on behalf of my mother in law who lived in Bay St. Louis and lost everything in Katrina. I am looking for anyone with the equipment, time, and huge heart who would volunteer their time to try to help lift her roof off her house. Their is still stuff in the interior that can be saved if we can get the roof off to go in. She was lucky enough(if you can even call it lucky) to have her roof trap about half her belongings inside the house when it collapsed. She just needs help moving the roof off!!! any help anyone could give to her would mean more than anything in this world to her and to me. You can email me at kcasama@msn.com. Again, it would have to be a total volunteer thing as she has no money and her insurance is screwing her just like everyone else. They are saying flood destroyed her home and she wasn't covered. They may be cold hearted, but I know there are a lot of good people out there. I sure hope some of you will read my plea and we can help her start to rebuild without them. Thanks so much. Kathy

Hi Kathy,

I'm glad we are able to host your request here, and we are doing everything possible to drive traffic to this site, and encourage our visitors to respond to requests like yours.

Yours is a great example of the countless opportunities we Americans have to help out in these times of crisis. I know there is someone out there who will respond to you, and we're doing our best to get the word out for you.

It's hard to even think about what your family is enduring now, but we all do have to think about it, and keep thinking until we find a way to respond.

Thank you for accepting our invitation to request assistance here.

Please check in often to see if any other resources that could be of use to your family might be on offer, and please make sure to check in and let us know how things are going.

I can't personally offer to help with lift the roof, but your request will remain on my list of urgent needs, just in case I find a resource that might be useful to you, and if so, I'll let you know.

All the best to you and your family, Kathy. I'm sorry you are enduring this loss.

Nico
