Mom's an Oprah Fan

My Mom's 2 favorite shows are Oprah and Dr. Phil. She tried to watdch them every day.

I like Oprah too but have not seen Dr. Phil much.

My favorite show is West Wing but I haven't seen it this year yet.

I think my mom has good taste.

Hi All,

Every so often I get to catch the show. Lately my schedule has been a little full so I haven't been turning it on. I was on the site for Oprahs fans and I saw alot of complaints about how she is going to be having alot more celeb shows this new season. The general audience wants more of the everyday life situations rather than hearing a celeb talk by the looks of it.
I am the same way though..how about you guys?

I know I would rather watch real people. Funny, now that the colder weather is coming here in the north I love to bake and listen to talkshows. Nothing like the snow falling outside and being in my sweats baking up a storm. I have alot of happy childhood memories of coming home from school and my mom baking and and throwing myself in a chair listening to Merv Griffin.

Well, I'm glad to hear that you like real people interviews, and that you like to throw yourself in a chair to listen to them on a wintry afternoon, because that's our plan for our broadcasts here!!

Oprah is a genius! Carrying a show like hers is a tough job. I believe everybody would agree that a show host with no brains can not make a good conversation with her guests and audience. But Oprah made it smooth with all those really good topics.

Oprah is a very nice show, and it handles life in a more humane manner. I would have to agree with your mom! Hurrah for her! Oprah is not only a genius but she is also very kind, all those projects for the youth and the less fortunate people. I just wish she would have a partner by his side so she won't grow old alone.

I like Oprah too... I use to watch that everyday also. I have watched Dr. Phil too, its a good show too but I dont get to watch that now, we dont have it anymore in the Philippines. Oprah comes on everyday and I find it a great show to watch and learn...

I'm not a fan of Dr. Phil as I feel some of his advice is pretty useless (sorry to Phil fans), but I think Oprah's great insofar as soliciting honesty from her guests and picking relevant issues because she recognizes the effect her attention has on global issues. Take for example all the cases about female genital mutilation, or starvation in Africa that she focused on, and these issues got the publicity they needed to garner support. I don't care if she's getting rich; what I do know is that she's helping people in the process and I love her for it.
